Any Future ?

I recently read about a group who wants to start .mls which is an acronym for . multi listing service, which of course would be run by realestate agents and the founding members of the application plan to lay claim to thier most favored picks , so if you contribute about $15,000 to the application you would be able to claim a .mls geo name of your choice and hopefully recieve all the benefits of using the .mls extension, however i really think there is not marketing clout behind this extension and i would tend to think that .geo’s such as .Nyc would be a better bet, example would be realestate.Nyc. I think it shows that not all new gtld’s will in fact work, although for large companies like canon a website named Printers.Canon would surely be an asset ! Although in fairness to the .mls conglomerate the world stills needs pioneers of all sorts so good luck with it.

Get Set for .Tamil and .Hindi ……..not quite !

Ok the title is slightly misleading but there is no doubt that these extensions will eventually appear on the interent landscape as the floodgates continue to open up to the world of non latin speakers and their keyboards. In the case of the tamil and hindi languages there are literally millions upon millions of users just waiting to be able to access the internet in thier native language and once they gain the use of home grown scripts there is no doubt that the people on board the net in all areas catering for the hindi and tamil scripts will flourish, so get ready India and Sri Lanka there is some changes on the way for you Script Examples Here

.COM Trying To Go International

Verisign who runs the registration of .com and .net domain names have applied to go global with the .com and .net exstension, which now means if you were owning a russian IDN.com that IDN will become IDN.kom (russian alphabet) and the same will be worldwide depending on individual spelling of each alphabet for each country , but long story short this means if you have invested in a IDN (international Domain Name) with the .com extension you will basically get two for one because you will hold the rights the native language spelling of the .com , as the russion example above shows. So in a world of Gtld (Generic Top Level Domains) and Cctlds (Country Code Top Level Domains) the .com brand that basically started the internet will continue to be a force as time and changes go by !

Oh No …..it’s O.Co

After the recent record breaking sale of E.Co comes the news that a U.S online retailer called Overstock have in fact purchased the domain name O.Co for a whopping $350,000. and the domain is currently redirecting to overstock.com for the moment, the overstock group also own the domain O.Biz meaning they now two fantastic online real estate investments just from their domains associated with their business. One letter domains are quite rare and never cheap but one thing is for sure is that they probably will not get any cheaper as time goes by !
